Who am I?
A European Mixed Breed
Hello. My name is Alexandra. Born in Bulgaria and raised in Austria, I grew up bilingual. Little did I know that this was only the beginning of a journey that would take me across several European countries for the next decades and spark a passion for connecting with people, learning languages and immersing myself into different cultures.
Living in countries like Austria, Germany, France and Spain has taught me a lot. Most importantly, that the best things in life are better if shared, and that through collaboration we can achieve the unimaginable. Therefore, I am naturally drawn to learning, teaching and sharing my knowledge. This is one of the reasons I thrive working with people, and why I will always try as much as possible to adapt to your specific needs when working together.
A Neuroscientist
Naturally curious, I turned to science to find answers, and I found many of them through the study of Biology, but one very special biological device fascinated me in particular: the brain.
Determined to understand how neurons (brain cells) work together in order to create behavior, I pursued a PhD in neuroscience. Eventually, I worked in research for more than a decade and authored numerous scientific articles on topics like brain development, olfaction and memory formation.
As a trained scientist that is dedicated to the cause of dogs, I am particularly interested in the latest research related to dogs. Whenever it is relevant for your daily life with your dog, our approach when working together, or just because you are curious, I will happily share this knowledge in an accessible and (hopefully) engaging way with you.
A Dog Behaviorist
Science has taught me that even the most ordinary things can make you wonder if you keep the eyes of a child. Dogs are a very good reason to wonder.
I was already an adult when a dog first entered my life, but it didn’t take me long to recognize how much meaning a human-dog relationship can carry. I was immediately intrigued.
However, when our first behavioral challenges (especially reactivity) started to arise, I quickly realized that I needed more than just the average advice I would get from the internet or my well-intended surrounding. I needed a solid understanding of my dogs’ behavior and a clear way of communicating to them. This embarked me on a journey to research dog behavior and training methods for the next couple of years. Eventually, I decided to follow this passion of mine and became a certified dog behaviorist myself to help dedicated guardians like you with their struggles to understand and adequately support their dog.
If you have found this place, you most likely belong to those people that treat their dogs as family members and share the desire to effectively communicate to them. However, our fast-paced lives don’t always allow us to dedicate the time and effort that this relationship would need in order to flourish appropriately.
My goal is to address your issues based on respect, communication and evidence-based knowledge. At the same time, my approach as a dog behaviorist is deeply rooted in my scientific background. Rather than having a one-fits-all solution, I work with detailed observation to analyze the situation and find a tailored strategy for your needs.
